Elliot Foundation academies will only exclude as a last resort. All children in our academies are entitled to a safe and orderly learning environment, and all of our staff are entitled to work in an environment free from violence and disruption. Each academy’s individual behaviour policy is designed to ensure such a safe environment and to promote good behaviour. Permanent exclusion will only be considered when the Executive Principal or Principal’s risk assessment concludes that the welfare and safety of other members of the academy community cannot be assured.
All members of TEFAT Academies are entitled to be valued equally and to enjoy respect as individuals. Our goal is the highest achievement of all kinds for all of our pupils. We aim to celebrate their successes and to foster their development as independent learners and responsible citizens, in partnership with families and the wider community.
In meeting the duty to make arrangements to support pupils with medical
conditions, functions can be conferred on a governor, a principal, a
committee or other member of staff as appropriate. Help and cooperation
can also be enlisted from other appropriate persons. We expect that an
approach to meeting the duty will be taken in light of the statutory guidance.
